    迈克尔·鲁惟一,英国著名汉学家。从剑桥的佩雷斯学院毕业后,他进入牛津大学莫德林学院工作。因第二次世界大战爆发,1942年他离开牛津大学,来到英国政府通讯部接受日语训练;同时,开始利用业余时间学习汉语。1947年,他来到北京生活,此时对中国传统文化和中国历史产生浓厚兴趣,同时开始研究非洲和东方文化。返回英国后,他任教于伦敦大学,主要讲授远东历史。1963年,他获得牛津大学博士学位,后任教于剑桥大学,是剑桥大学克莱尔讲堂的成员,剑桥大学以他的名字设立“鲁惟一奖”专门用于奖励在中国文学方面表现突出的本科生。
